The Bembridge Rally turned into an impromptu passage race for the Solent Memorys, followed by a weekend of eating and drinking in local hostelries.
Drama in the Round the Island Race: 4 Memorys started the race… Jane was leading the class when she was rammed by a 40' yacht that broke her bowsprit! Roy & Terry (last year's first over line gaff rig, and 2nd in class the previous year) was late for the start and then a technical problem ensued (known in boating circles as 'getting the course wrong'!); Andrew and Marion on their first attempt, and in their cruising Memory with nothing racey on board, demonstrated the eternal truth of the tortoise and hare; closely followed by Miles also on his debut. Well done all!
8 Memorys took place in the Bursledon Regatta, out of a field of 15. Full report to follow.
